There are a number of resources that may be helpful as your agency implements utilization
of Certified Peer Specialists. Below are several resources that other agencies have
found useful, such as the RAND Corporation technical report on Mental Health Consumer
Providers: A Guide for Clinical Staff. The Mortality and Morbidity Final Report
provides the research behind the finding that individuals with serious mental illness
on average die 25 years younger than the general population. Also provided is the
Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services letter regarding delivery of peer support
services and available research on peer support. The Pillars of Peer Support document
provides information on how State departments of mental health are supporting peer
support services.
